Internship Experience at Groww
As I reflect on my internship experience, I can confidently say that it has been an amazing journey for me. I had the privilege of interning at Groww, a fintech startup that has been disrupting the Indian investment industry since its inception. The company’s culture and its focus on innovation and customer-centricity are what drew me towards it in the first place. And I can say without a doubt that my expectations were met and exceeded.
Groww is a Bangalore-based startup that was founded in 2017. It is an online platform that allows users to invest in mutual funds, stocks, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in a hassle-free manner. The company has gained a significant market share in India’s investment industry by providing a user-friendly and transparent platform that caters to both novice and experienced investors.
The culture at Groww is one of its unique selling points. The company believes in fostering a work environment that promotes collaboration, creativity, and innovation. It’s not just about getting the job done but also about how it’s done. The company’s culture is centered around the growth mindset, which emphasizes continuous learning and improvement.
During my internship, I had the opportunity to work on various exciting technologies such as React, Redux, React-navigation, React native, and some amazing inhouse libraries developed by the amazing minds of Groww. I was part of the team responsible for developing the platform’s mobile application. My role primarily involved developing and testing new features and improving the app’s user interface.
What I enjoyed the most about my internship was the autonomy that was given to me. Despite being an intern, I was treated as a full-time employee and was entrusted with real responsibilities. This was a great opportunity for me to showcase my skills and learn from my mistakes. The team members were always approachable, and their guidance and support helped me perform to the best of my abilities.
I also found the company’s open-door policy refreshing. Every team member was accessible and willing to lend a helping hand. Whether it was a technical issue or a personal matter, I always felt comfortable approaching my colleagues for assistance. This helped foster a sense of belonging and made me feel like part of the team.
One of the things that stood out to me was the company’s focus on the customer. Groww’s user-centric approach meant that every decision was made with the customer’s best interest in mind. This was evident in the platform’s user interface, which was designed to be simple and easy to navigate, even for first-time investors. The company’s customer support team was also very responsive and helpful, which made the customer experience a delightful one.
